I set up a Twitter account several months ago for an assignment in another class. I never really used it, or even explored it enough to actually learn enough about it. I am so excited to be forced into using it this time. Just from spending a few hours trying to accomplish our current assignment, I have found some great resources. I am also very excited to be able find new people on twitter4teacher to follow. This will make finding other teachers that I have things in common with easier. I find it hard to actually find people to follow, unless they are famous or I know their twitter name. I do however know that I need to continue to explore how to use it more efficiently.
I tried the "Tweet Deck" and I am not sure how much I like it. I originally thought that I didn't like it at all. The more I actually used it and checked it out, the more I realized it is pretty great. It seems very easy to read and you can keep up on your tweets, other tweets, and other activity going on. It seems a lot easier to follow than my own twitter page. I am excited to see how much more I can learn about it and if I can use it on my Android phone.
I could taker your post and put it on my page and not chage anything! Lol! I have the same feeling about Twitter as you do. I started using it but never really got into using it. I started using Hootsuite for my Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn accounts. There are pro and cons, but again it will take some getting used to.
ReplyDeleteI understand how you feel. I believe that if it was not required, I’m not sure if I would join. Although, I’m excited to use Twitter for my PLN’s, I’m a little hesitant. I will definitely explore Twitter and TwitterDeck to become more comfortable with it. I also did plenty of research this week and I’m still finding myself in doubt. I thought it would be simple however, I find it a little overwhelming. Obviously, I need more experience and research to feel confident. I actually started to follow @support on Twitter and it looks as though it will be a valuable resource. I sent out my very first tweet and I’m not even sure if I did correctly. As the saying goes, practice makes perfect! Good luck my Twitter friend.
ReplyDeleteI am also recently new to Twitter,...@jaythammel. I have been playing around with Tweet deck. The only thing I really don't like about it is there isn't an app for it. Apparently, Apple removed it from the app store...
ReplyDeleteI do like how easy it is to follow the topics I like and want specific information about. My twitter account is now organized how I like it. You should check out #MOEDCHAT for connected teachers across Missouri talking about different topics. Their chats are Thursdays at 9 pm.
It's good to hear you have already found some resources on Twitter. Make sure you re-tweet and add #MBU543 as the hashtag!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for your post. I am new to Twitter and really have not even explored all of the possibilities that Twitter offers. I also feel as though Twitter is a great resource from just exploring it for our first assignment.
ReplyDeleteI also have not decided on how I feel about Tweet Deck. I feel as though it is too busy and has too much going on. I did not feel like it was very easy to navigate and I am not used to the format. Maybe, after using it for a while I will start to like it more and more. Thanks again!
